This is from a monastery in Akritoxori outside of Serres city.

So right before evening prayer the nuns have this ritual (I'm not sure if this is the right word), one of the nuns holds this big piece of wood called Talado and she hits it with this wooden hammer in a specific rhythm. This is just to invite both the nuns and the believers, if they happen to be there, that the evening preyer is about to start. Here, some children run behind the nun holiding the talado.

I'm really sorry for the quality of the photo, I took this shot from an iPhone camera, I did my best, I think.

ritual is fine, or maybe tradition might be slightly better :)

Well for her is not just a job, it's almost everything, and when I say everything I don't mean the Talado part, but the whole life style.
